Thank You For Attending Family Weekend
From far and near, families came to Concord Academy in October to experience a bit of what it’s like to be a CA student. During Family Weekend, parents attended classes, visited studios, met with teachers and advisors, and cheered on their children’s teams. Families got to know one another better at social gatherings, the annual Community Dinner hosted by CA Parents, and at this year’s first meeting of the CA Parents Book Club. Many attended a CA Parents Council meeting and conversations with the College Counseling Office staff. Others enjoyed open rehearsals of the fall mainstage production of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream and a Dance 3 class, as well as presentations by the Performing Arts Department of works in progress by a variety of student music groups and CA Dance Project. Kevin Parker, a former member of the Student Life Office, returned to CA on October 17 to share his work at the college level in health and wellness education. In particular, Kevin spoke with the students in an assembly entitled “How Juul Fooled Us” about the marketing of Juul and other vaping devices as well as their dangers. Thanks to a small group of day parent volunteers, this fall we will offer rides to Logan Airport or South Station (at no charge) for boarding students whose travel plans do not coincide with CA’s scheduled transportation at break times. In the past, students who needed rides outside of regularly scheduled shuttle times would contact Renee Coburn to set up a taxi. Starting this fall, students may contact Renee to set up a ride through our parent network. If no parent volunteer is available when the student needs a ride, Renee can still set up a taxi, as in the past. Please be in touch with the Student Life Office (student_life_office@concordacademy.org) if you have any questions.
