Please contact Jennifer Knight in the Office of Advancement & Engagement at (978) 402-2241 with any questions or for more information.

The school’s fiscal year runs from July 1 to June 30. CA’s tax ID number is: 04-1200600.

Gifts of Stock

By donating appreciated stocks directly to CA, you can avoid the capital gains tax that would be incurred if you sold the securities. You may also take a charitable income tax deduction equal to the fair market value of securities on the day of the gift.

To make a gift of stock to Concord Academy, please fill out this form about the securities you plan to donate to Concord Academy. Upon submitting your responses, this form will display the instructions needed to complete your transfer.

If you need any further assistance, email Jennifer Knight in the Office of Advancement & Engagement or reach out by phone at (978) 402-2241.

Corporate Matching Gift

Check below to see if your employer will match your donation. Many companies sponsor matching gift programs that match a charitable contribution made by an employee. Not only does CA benefit from the increased gift, but a donor may qualify for a higher category of recognition when the gift is matched.

Please forward any required paperwork to Jennifer Knight in the Office of Advancement & Engagement by email at jennifer_knight@concordacademy.org or by mail to Concord Academy Attn: Jennifer Knight, 166 Main St, Concord, MA 01742.

Recurring Gift/Multi-year Annual Fund Pledge

If you would like to make a recurring gift (monthly or annually) or multi-year pledge to the Annual Fund, please do so through the online giving form and select the Recurring gift option. If you have any questions contact our Director of the Annual Fund, Elizabeth Crowley, at (978) 402-2229 or elizabeth_crowley@concordacademy.org.

Thank you so much for considering a recurring gift/multi-year pledge and investment in Concord Academy.

Retirement Assets

The IRA charitable rollover provision of the Trade Facilitation and Trade Enforcement Act of 2015, passed by Congress on December 18, revives the opportunity for individuals age 70½ and older to make direct transfers totaling up to $100,000 per year to 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations, without having to count the transfers as income for federal income tax purposes.

Benefits to the Donor:

  • You can transfer IRA assets directly to Concord Academy without paying income tax on the withdrawal.
  • The amount of the charitable transfer will count toward your annual minimum required distribution.
  • You may contribute up to $100,000.
  • The funds must be transferred from a traditional IRA or a rollover IRA directly to Concord Academy

Tangible Personal Property

Items that have appreciated in value, such as books, works of art, coin collections or antiques, may be given to Concord Academy as charitable gifts. The charitable deduction depends on the appraised value and whether or not the gift is related to our tax-exempt purpose.

Real Estate

You can make a gift of marketable residential or commercial real estate to Concord Academy and receive substantial financial benefits. Such gifts are subject to the approval of the school’s Gift Acceptance Committee. If Concord Academy is unable to use donated property, it will be sold and the proceeds used as needed or as you specify.

If you make a gift of real property to the school, you will be credited with a contribution valued at the fair market value of the real estate, as determined by an independent, qualified appraiser. You pay no capital gains tax on the appreciation portion if the property has been held for more than one year.

If you do not wish to give an entire building or parcel of land, you may donate an undivided interest in the property.

If you are considering leaving your home to the school through your will, you may want to give it now but retain the right to live in it for your lifetime. While you will continue to pay taxes, insurance, and maintenance costs, you can receive a substantial charitable income tax deduction in the year you make the gift.

For information, please contact Leadership Gift and Planned Giving Officer Shep Shepard at (978) 402-2258 or email him at shep_shepard@concordacademy.org.

Planned Gifts

By making a planned gift, you can strengthen Concord Academy and gain financial and tax benefits for you and your family.

There are many ways to support Concord Academy’s future that do not affect you and your family during your lifetime. Although including a bequest in your estate plan is one way to leave a legacy, there are other arrangements, similar to bequests, which are simple, straightforward, and accomplish the same goal.

  • Bequests (gifts by will or living trust)
  • Gifts of retirement plans
  • Gifts of life insurance

We can help you or your representatives plan a gift that will best serve your own financial future and best benefit Concord Academy. We can provide sample language, tax calculations, and informational literature, and are happy to meet with you by phone or in person. To learn more about CA’s planned giving opportunities, please contact Leadership Gift and Planned Giving Officer Shep Shepard at (978) 402-2258 or email him at shep_shepard@concordacademy.org.

Donor-Advised Fund

The donor-advised fund (DAF) is an increasingly popular way to make a charitable gift. DAFs provide immediate tax benefits while making your philanthropic giving easier. Here are two simple ways you can support Concord Academy through your DAF:

  1. Make an outright gift today by recommending a grant to Concord Academy;
  2. Designate Concord Academy to receive all or a portion of the fund value upon the termination of the fund.

You can select the option that best suits your philanthropic and financial goals. Contact your DAF administrator to request a distribution or beneficiary form, or download the appropriate form(s) from your administrator’s website.

If you include Concord Academy in your DAF distributions, please let us know and use our legal name and federal tax ID.
