CA Reconnects During Reunion and Alum Weekend 2024

What a beautiful weekend it was to reunite in Concord, Mass.! From June 7 to 9, 2024, around 200 alums from across generations returned to Concord Academy. Reunion and Alum Weekend provided many opportunities for CA graduates and their families to connect.

Concord Academy Commencement Celebrates the Class of 2024

The morning of May 24 was sunny and warm—a beautiful time to celebrate Concord Academy’s newest graduates. The rhododendrons were in brilliant bloom as the class of 2024 processed down the Senior Steps in front of hundreds of guests in Academy Garden.

CA Celebrates Successful Spring 2024 Athletic Season

CA Athletics enjoyed another successful season, including Eastern Independent League (EIL) and New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) championships and a victory over Bancroft School in the third annual Spring Cup rivalry event. Student-athletes demonostrated Concord Academy’s values of teamwork, good sportsmanship, and competitive grit.

CA Business Speaker Series Celebrates Enterprising Alums

Concord Academy alums’ passions for learning, innovation, and adaptability have distinguished them as leaders in business. As part of CA’s spring 2024 Business Speaker Series, Layth Madi ’96, Lindsay Kolowich Cox ’09, and Vernard Lockhart ’04 spoke with students to share their experiences in moving organizations forward and offer advice for future entrepreneurs.

Fall 2021 Athletics Season Recap

Congratulations to Concord Academy’s fall teams! After being sidelined from competing in fall of 2020 due to the pandemic, CA athletes roared back to the playing fields to enjoy another successful fall season capped off with a 5th consecutive Chandler Bowl victory.

Environmental Symposium: Ben Stumpf ’88 Encourages All to Bring Their Strengths to the Climate Justice Movement

Gretchen Roorbach, CA science teacher and organizer of the Environmental Symposium, introduced the third and final speaker in the lecture series as one of her environmental role models. Her colleague Ben Stumpf ’88 has been teaching computer science, film, and graphic design at Concord Academy for nearly 20 years and has been involved with the climate movement for almost as long.

Environmental Symposium: Wen Stephenson

In 2010, independent journalist Wen Stephenson wrote his first long personal essay about climate change and activism. “Walking Home from Walden” gave him a form to wrestle with his awakening to the climate crisis with help from 19th century transcendentalist writer Henry David Thoreau.

My Class Ring Eluded Me

“Never the twain could meet for long, my senior ring and I; no matter what I tried, I couldn’t keep that small band of stainless steel with me,” writes Harry Breault ’16. After making a habit of losing his CA class ring, he replaced it with a chameleon tattoo.

Ashton Mota ’23 had the opportunity of a lifetime this summer. Through the GenderCool Project, he spoke at the White House, alongside President Joe Biden and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, in honor of Pride Month.

2021–22 Environmental Symposium Opens with Journalist Tatiana Schlossberg

Tatiana Schlossberg kicked off The Environmental Symposium, an annual lecture series which welcomes environmental scientists, advocates, and experts to speak to the CA community—this year under the theme of environmental justice. Schlossberg joined CA for a discussion about the issue of environmental justice surrounding coal ash.
