Congratulations to Concord Academy’s fall teams! After being sidelined from competing in fall of 2020 due to the pandemic, CA athletes roared back to the playing fields to enjoy another successful fall season capped off with a 5th consecutive Chandler Bowl victory.

Go Green!

Cross Country

Boys and girls cross country combined to enjoy another very successful season. At the EIL championship race, which was held at the historic course at Franklin Park in Boston, the CA girls had a strong showing finishing in 5th place with 2 runners earning All League honors by placing in the top 15. The boys team brought home the 2021 EIL title by winning a tight race on the strength of 5 CA runners finishing in the top 15. The program concluded its season at the NEPSAC Division III Championships on their home course at Great Brook State Park in Carlisle. CA boys varsity cross country built off of the momentum of their EIL title the week before and finished 2nd, missing the championship by a razor thin margin. As the New England runner up this year, the boys program has reached the NEPSAC podium (top four finish) four consecutive times. The girls team also performed well finishing 9th out of 19 teams. In the JV races, the CA boys won in dominant fashion, with four runners in the top five to win the team competition, while CA girls placed fourth.

Boys Varsity Soccer

The boys varsity soccer team performed well again this season. The team had to wait nearly two years to take the field again after earning the NEPSAC championship in fall 2019. In an impressive run of excellence, the program earned its sixth consecutive New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) tournament bid at the end of the regular season. As a No. 7 seed, CA traveled north to battle the No. 2 seed, Vermont Academy. CA gave their opponent all they could as Vermont Academy scored the only goal of the game late in the second half. While disappointed not to advance, the team was rightfully proud of their performance.

Girls Varsity Soccer

The girls varsity soccer program enjoyed their most successful season in recent years. Under the guidance of new head coach, Ben Stumpf, the team posted a 7-5-2 record with sweeps of league rivals Lexington Christian Academy and Portsmouth Abbey School. On the strength of the regular season record, CA applied to the Class C NEPSAC tournament in hopes of earning a coveted bid to the 8-team bracket. While the bid did not come to fruition, there is no doubt the girls soccer program is on the rise within the EIL.

Girls Varsity Field Hockey

The varsity field hockey program had a signature season under new head coach, Alex Holmes, posting nine wins which are the most earned by the program in a season in the past seven years. The team rallied late in the season earning four wins in their last five games a 3-1 victory over league rival Berwick, on senior day.

Girls Varsity Volleyball

The girls varsity volleyball team worked through challenges this season as they returned to their court in the SHAC, having practiced on outdoor courts in the fall of 2020. The highlight of the season was a dominating 3-0 sweep of Pingree which provided CA with a critical point toward winning the Chandler Bowl once again this past fall.

JV Programs

The future appears bright for our varsity programs as CA’s four fall sub-varsity teams — boys JV soccer, boys thirds soccer, girls JV soccer and girls JV volleyball — combined for 29 wins over the course of the season.

It was another strong fall athletic season by many measures, but most importantly, the players enjoyed the opportunity to once again compete for the green and white.
