2019 Convocation Remarks from Fay Lampert Shutzer ’65, Board of Trustees President
"Good morning and welcome. I am Fay Shutzer. I am the president of the Board of Trustees and an alumna from the class of 1965. When mentioning my year of graduation, I often joke, ’Don’t do the math, and today it is especially relevant."

"It’s 10 minutes before practice. I ought to be strolling out to the quad to greet the cross-country team, but instead I’m racing through the SHAC looking for paper, lots of paper — enough paper to illustrate a principle that’s near and dear to my heart." On September 4, the CA community gathered for the first chapel of the year given by Head of School Rick Hardy. "Learning is always more than imitation; learning means questioning, internalizing, and then understanding what works best for you," he said. The Harvest Luncheon is the first of two faculty/staff appreciation events that the CA Parent’s Organization sponsors during the school year. As parents, rarely do we have such a direct opportunity to share our gratitude for the faculty and staff who are so dedicated to our children and our children’s education. We would love your help to make this event a great success!
Day parents are invited to cook, bake, or make “take-away” gifts. Volunteers are needed both the afternoon before and day of the event for setup, decoration, food pickup, and cleanup.
For boarding parents, parents who are short on time, or parents who don’t like to spend time in the kitchen, there are many other ways for you to participate as well. The link below has a suggested list of restaurants and vendors. You can place an order or provide “take-away” gifts for faculty and staff, and a local volunteer will be on hand to help pick up your order.
You may sign up here to contribute. Thank you in advance for your time and contributions!
