CA Reconnects During Reunion and Alum Weekend 2024

What a beautiful weekend it was to reunite in Concord, Mass.! From June 7 to 9, 2024, around 200 alums from across generations returned to Concord Academy. Reunion and Alum Weekend provided many opportunities for CA graduates and their families to connect.

Concord Academy Commencement Celebrates the Class of 2024

The morning of May 24 was sunny and warm—a beautiful time to celebrate Concord Academy’s newest graduates. The rhododendrons were in brilliant bloom as the class of 2024 processed down the Senior Steps in front of hundreds of guests in Academy Garden.

CA Celebrates Successful Spring 2024 Athletic Season

CA Athletics enjoyed another successful season, including Eastern Independent League (EIL) and New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) championships and a victory over Bancroft School in the third annual Spring Cup rivalry event. Student-athletes demonostrated Concord Academy’s values of teamwork, good sportsmanship, and competitive grit.

CA Business Speaker Series Celebrates Enterprising Alums

Concord Academy alums’ passions for learning, innovation, and adaptability have distinguished them as leaders in business. As part of CA’s spring 2024 Business Speaker Series, Layth Madi ’96, Lindsay Kolowich Cox ’09, and Vernard Lockhart ’04 spoke with students to share their experiences in moving organizations forward and offer advice for future entrepreneurs.

Thanks to Alums, CA Students Get a Worm’s Eye View on Sustainable Agriculture

Last week, students in Kiley Remiszewski and Gretchen Roorbach’s advanced environmental science classes got hands-on experience with a sustainable agriculture practice, vermicomposting, or composting with worms. Dr. Elisabeth Bellows ’72 gave a presentation, developed in partnership with Sally Behr Schendel ’72, then students got to work preparing a worm bin and collecting compost from Bellows’ demonstration bin.

Author Henriette Lazaridis ’78 Shares Her Story

On April 22, Boston Globe bestselling author and Oxford Rhodes Scholar Henriette Lazaridis ’78 visited campus for a conversation with the Chameleon Literary and Arts Magazine (CLAAM). Lazaridis, a former member of CLAAM, did a reading from her adventure novel Terra Nova and answered questions from aspiring student writers.

CA Conference Celebrates Gender Diversity in the Technology Industry

Last weekend, Concord Academy hosted the annual GRiT (Gender Representation in Technology) Conference. The student-organized program empowered women and genderqueer individuals to engage in technology confidently. Alumni leaders Emma Starr ’12, Jennifer Rojas ’16, Iris Oliver ’15, and Carolina Diez ’13 led workshops on topics ranging from data to design accessibility.

Larry Goldings ’86 Returns to the CA Stage

Larry Goldings ’86 is one of the great pianists and HammondB3 organists of our time. On April 5, he returned to the Performing Arts Center (P.A.C.) stage to perform in assembly and teach a master class for ensemble students.

Filmmaker André Robert Lee Will Speak at CA’s 2023 Commencement

Concord Academy will welcome André Robert Lee to speak at Commencement on May 26, 2023. A filmmaker, keynote speaker, consultant, writer, and educator, Lee has committed his career to “building an army of change agents.” He currently serves as the executive producer for the WNYC Live Radio show Notes from America with Kai Wright.

2022-23 Winter Athletic Season Recap

CA winter teams enjoyed a successful season! The girls varsity Alpine ski team won a Central Massachusetts Ski League championship with senior Tory Adams ’23 securing league and New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) individual championships. Both the wrestling and squash programs represented CA well at the NEPSAC championship. Go Green!
