CA winter teams have wrapped up a successful season!
The girls Alpine ski team enjoyed a stellar season. The team led in the league standings from start to finish and secured a Central Massachusetts Ski League (CMSL) championship in dominant fashion. A banner will be raised in the gym to honor their achievement. They also performed well at New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) tournament finishing fourth and 11th in slalom and giant slalom respectively. Tory Adams ’23 led the way earning a NEPSAC championship in slalom and the overall girls championship in the CMSL. Quite an impressive senior season and career on the slope. The boys Alpine ski team also enjoyed success finishing second in the CMSL with two skiers earning all-league honors.
The all-gender varsity wrestling team was very young this year after graduating a talented senior class from their Eastern Independent League (EIL) championship team in 2022. The squad improved steadily over the course of the season, finishing third in the league standings with six wrestlers qualifying for the NEPSAC tournament. Theo von Gottberg ’24 led the way, earning an EIL championship in his weight class and advancing to the second round at NEPSACs.
The girls varsity squash team enjoyed a much improved season under the guidance of new head coach, Nick Johnson. The team posted a solid regular season record earning a bid to the very competitive Class D bracket at NEPSACs. The boys varsity squash program applied learnings from a challenging regular season to finish a solid third in their bracket at the NEPSAC tournament.
The boys varsity basketball team’s schedule was markedly more challenging this year as the program continues to improve. While wins were harder to come by as a result, the team competed very well against some of the stronger programs in New England. The girls varsity basketball team steadily improved as well under the leadership of new head coach, Dwayne Powell. The girls and boys JV basketball teams both worked hard and improved steadily throughout the winter season.
