CA Reconnects During Reunion and Alum Weekend 2024

What a beautiful weekend it was to reunite in Concord, Mass.! From June 7 to 9, 2024, around 200 alums from across generations returned to Concord Academy. Reunion and Alum Weekend provided many opportunities for CA graduates and their families to connect.

Concord Academy Commencement Celebrates the Class of 2024

The morning of May 24 was sunny and warm—a beautiful time to celebrate Concord Academy’s newest graduates. The rhododendrons were in brilliant bloom as the class of 2024 processed down the Senior Steps in front of hundreds of guests in Academy Garden.

CA Celebrates Successful Spring 2024 Athletic Season

CA Athletics enjoyed another successful season, including Eastern Independent League (EIL) and New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) championships and a victory over Bancroft School in the third annual Spring Cup rivalry event. Student-athletes demonostrated Concord Academy’s values of teamwork, good sportsmanship, and competitive grit.

CA Business Speaker Series Celebrates Enterprising Alums

Concord Academy alums’ passions for learning, innovation, and adaptability have distinguished them as leaders in business. As part of CA’s spring 2024 Business Speaker Series, Layth Madi ’96, Lindsay Kolowich Cox ’09, and Vernard Lockhart ’04 spoke with students to share their experiences in moving organizations forward and offer advice for future entrepreneurs.

Composer-in-Residence Stefanie Lubkowski Is Getting Students Involved in Creating New Music

Usually, the Chameleon Chamber Players listen to unfamiliar pieces before trying to play them. But this year, the five-member advanced ensemble had a chance to approach music differently thanks to a gift of funding for Concord Academy’s new composer-in-residence, Stefanie Lubkowski. In addition to teaching individual lessons in composition, Lubkowski has included student-musicians in the creation and development of an entirely new work. Her approach speaks to one of her main professional goals: to help young people see writing music as a dynamic process.

In a Guest Artist Residency, Lily Kind ’04 Brings Her Love of Vernacular and Experimental Dance Back to CA

The love Lily Kind '04 has for vernacular and vaudevillian dance traditions and her abiding interest in taking risks were evident in her teaching approach during her two-week visit to CA in January. Kind is one in a series of professional dance artists — including Alexander Brady and Rika Okamoto from Twyla Tharp Dance — who have come to campus this year to work with and choreograph for the CA Dance Project and guest-teach dance classes. The Dance Company (now Dance Project), which she took part in all four of her years as a CA student, anchored her experience. “It's where I learned how to be an artist," she says.”

Uniting Her Passions for Crafting, Environmental Advocacy, and Helping Fellow Teens, Audrey Lin ’19 is “Matting Change”

To transform a heap of waste into a sleeping mat for a young person experiencing homelessness, it takes between 600 and 700 plastic shopping bags and 15 to 20 hours of an individual’s time. “It’s a labor of love,” says Concord Academy student Audrey Lin ’19. But it’s one she has convinced others to take on along with her through her senior project — teaching groups to make plastic yarn (or “plarn”) from discarded single-use plastic bags and to use it to crochet lightweight, portable, bug-free, waterproof sleeping mats. The project unites her love of craft with her passion for environmental advocacy.
