CA Reconnects During Reunion and Alum Weekend 2024

What a beautiful weekend it was to reunite in Concord, Mass.! From June 7 to 9, 2024, around 200 alums from across generations returned to Concord Academy. Reunion and Alum Weekend provided many opportunities for CA graduates and their families to connect.

Concord Academy Commencement Celebrates the Class of 2024

The morning of May 24 was sunny and warm—a beautiful time to celebrate Concord Academy’s newest graduates. The rhododendrons were in brilliant bloom as the class of 2024 processed down the Senior Steps in front of hundreds of guests in Academy Garden.

CA Celebrates Successful Spring 2024 Athletic Season

CA Athletics enjoyed another successful season, including Eastern Independent League (EIL) and New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) championships and a victory over Bancroft School in the third annual Spring Cup rivalry event. Student-athletes demonostrated Concord Academy’s values of teamwork, good sportsmanship, and competitive grit.

CA Business Speaker Series Celebrates Enterprising Alums

Concord Academy alums’ passions for learning, innovation, and adaptability have distinguished them as leaders in business. As part of CA’s spring 2024 Business Speaker Series, Layth Madi ’96, Lindsay Kolowich Cox ’09, and Vernard Lockhart ’04 spoke with students to share their experiences in moving organizations forward and offer advice for future entrepreneurs.

Fall Film Assembly, January 8

The Fall Film Assembly will take place on Wednesday, January 8, at 2:25 p.m. in the P.A.C. Families are welcome to join us as we screen a selection of works from the fall 2019 film courses, including Introduction to Film Production and Introduction to Animation.

The Fall Visual Art Show will have its opening on Thursday, January 9, at 2:25 p.m. in the Math and Arts Center. The show features work from student artists in the 2019 fall semester visual arts courses.

Senior Holiday Chapel on Thursday, December 19

Each year the senior class performs for the entire boarding community on the final night of the semester. The performances range from musical performances to readings based on a winter or holiday theme. This year’s performance will take place on Thursday, December 19, beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel. All senior parents are welcome to attend. The senior class will take part in a community dinner with the boarding community prior to the performance. The senior class is invited to Rick Hardy’s house after the performance for dessert, departing campus by 9:00 p.m.

Junior Class Ring Orders

The Herff Jones Company will be handling the Concord Academy ring order this year for the class of 2021. Their representative will be coming to Concord Academy on Tuesday, January 14, and Wednesday, January 15, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. to measure juniors who are interested in ordering a class ring. The engraving is free, and the ring comes with a lifetime warranty with six years of reduced replacement coverage for lost and stolen rings. Herff Jones will be sending a letter to all junior households the week of December 16, which will include an order form and instructions. CCO Workshop for Juniors and Junior Parents on January 11

We hope junior parents can join us on Saturday, January 11, at 9:00 a.m. in the P.A.C. for the formal beginning of the college planning process. Required for all juniors, the program will feature remarks from Rick Hardy as well as the college counseling staff, a presentation by a dean of admissions, and a Q&A panel with current CA seniors. We will start promptly at 9:00 a.m., so if you wish to have coffee or breakfast beforehand, kindly plan accordingly. The workshop will end at noon, at which time there will be two hour-long optional sessions, one regarding financial aid and another about the role of athletics in the college process. Please note that the day’s schedule does not allow for individual meetings; we assure you that we will find future opportunities to connect either face-to-face or over the phone or Skype. We invite parents to bring the completed Parent Response Form, or email it to CCO@concordacademy.org.

CA Parents January Book Group

The next CA Parents Book Club meeting will be held on Monday, January 13, at 6:00 p.m. at the home of Peter and Michele Scavongelli P’20. The book we will be discussing is What the Eyes Don't See: A Story of Crisis, Resistance, and Hope in an American City by Dr. Mona Hanna-Attisha. We had a wonderful discussion of The Water Dancer by Ta-Nehisi Coates at our November meeting. We hope you can join us! You will receive an email and text message;
It is posted to the CA homepage;
It is posted to Concord Academy’s Facebook and Twitter accounts;
WBZ-TV News Channel 4, 7 News NBC/Channel 56 (CW), and WCVB-TV Boston NewsCenter 5, are notified; and
An email will be sent to All-School Official.

Save the Date: Winter CA Parents Meeting on February 5

Please save the date for the winter CA Parents meeting on Wednesday, February 5, from 6:15 to 8:00 p.m in the SHAC atrium and dance studio.
