CA Reconnects During Reunion and Alum Weekend 2024

What a beautiful weekend it was to reunite in Concord, Mass.! From June 7 to 9, 2024, around 200 alums from across generations returned to Concord Academy. Reunion and Alum Weekend provided many opportunities for CA graduates and their families to connect.

Concord Academy Commencement Celebrates the Class of 2024

The morning of May 24 was sunny and warm—a beautiful time to celebrate Concord Academy’s newest graduates. The rhododendrons were in brilliant bloom as the class of 2024 processed down the Senior Steps in front of hundreds of guests in Academy Garden.

CA Celebrates Successful Spring 2024 Athletic Season

CA Athletics enjoyed another successful season, including Eastern Independent League (EIL) and New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) championships and a victory over Bancroft School in the third annual Spring Cup rivalry event. Student-athletes demonostrated Concord Academy’s values of teamwork, good sportsmanship, and competitive grit.

CA Business Speaker Series Celebrates Enterprising Alums

Concord Academy alums’ passions for learning, innovation, and adaptability have distinguished them as leaders in business. As part of CA’s spring 2024 Business Speaker Series, Layth Madi ’96, Lindsay Kolowich Cox ’09, and Vernard Lockhart ’04 spoke with students to share their experiences in moving organizations forward and offer advice for future entrepreneurs.

Convocation Marked the Beginning of Concord Academy’s 99th Academic Year, With a Focus on Engaging with Open Minds and Hearts

On September 1, 2020, the Concord Academy community gathered not in the Elizabeth B. Hall Chapel but on a videoconference from homes near and far. While the virtual setting marked the start of a school year unlike any other, the themes of this year’s Convocation were familiar. Speakers, including Laura Twichell ’01, Fay Lampert Shutzer ’65, and Zahaan Khalid ’21, called for mutual commitments to listen closely and see one another fully, even and especially in online spaces.

Healthy Concord Reopening Update

As I write to you today, our world is still grappling with the great challenges that COVID-19 has created. Indeed, the situation in many places has unfortunately grown considerably worse since my last letter. I offer my sincere condolences to those of you who have suffered illness or lost loved ones to this pandemic. This disease has caused extraordinary pain, stress, and dismay on so many levels. We must all find ways to focus on hope and the prospects of the recovery that will come, and the opportunities that any crisis presents to assert our powers of caring and goodness. We hope you are leaning on and helping those around you.

Katherine Lauriat Saunders ’96: A CA Alumna Oversees Patient Nutrition During the Pandemic

Kate Lauriat Saunders ’96 directs clinical nutrition for the two campuses of the UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, Mass.. As COVID-19 cases surged in the state this spring, she also assumed oversight of food services at the temporary field hospital set up in the city’s convention center. The pandemic has posed some unique challenges for making sure patients are getting the nutrition they need to recover from serious illness.

2020 Reunion: Virtual Format, Meaningful Connections

Although the Covid-19 pandemic prevented Concord Academy alumnae/i from returning to campus, it did nothing to dampen their enthusiasm for reconnecting with classmates, faculty and staff, and fellow CA graduates as part of the school’s first Virtual Reunion. More than 225 alumnae/i joined via videoconference as CA hosted three special reunion programs, the annual Alumnae/i Association Assembly, and 13 virtual class gatherings for reunion classes over four days in early June.
