CA Reconnects During Reunion and Alum Weekend 2024

What a beautiful weekend it was to reunite in Concord, Mass.! From June 7 to 9, 2024, around 200 alums from across generations returned to Concord Academy. Reunion and Alum Weekend provided many opportunities for CA graduates and their families to connect.

Concord Academy Commencement Celebrates the Class of 2024

The morning of May 24 was sunny and warm—a beautiful time to celebrate Concord Academy’s newest graduates. The rhododendrons were in brilliant bloom as the class of 2024 processed down the Senior Steps in front of hundreds of guests in Academy Garden.

CA Celebrates Successful Spring 2024 Athletic Season

CA Athletics enjoyed another successful season, including Eastern Independent League (EIL) and New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) championships and a victory over Bancroft School in the third annual Spring Cup rivalry event. Student-athletes demonostrated Concord Academy’s values of teamwork, good sportsmanship, and competitive grit.

CA Business Speaker Series Celebrates Enterprising Alums

Concord Academy alums’ passions for learning, innovation, and adaptability have distinguished them as leaders in business. As part of CA’s spring 2024 Business Speaker Series, Layth Madi ’96, Lindsay Kolowich Cox ’09, and Vernard Lockhart ’04 spoke with students to share their experiences in moving organizations forward and offer advice for future entrepreneurs.

From June 9–11, more than 600 CA community members gathered at Concord Academy for the Centennial Celebration. It was a joyous party and a tribute to the power of a CA education. The festive weekend program included reunion class gatherings, panels, tours, and performances — it was truly an unprecedented opportunity for alums across generations to connect.

The science industry leaders spoke about how their work in research and engineering is making a positive impact on the lives of others.

During the Centennial Celebration weekend, more than 400 attendees filled the Performing Arts Center for “The Power of Personal Stories." Critically acclaimed authors Drew Gilpin Faust ’64, David Michaelis ’75, and Imani Perry ’90 shared their perspectives as part of the Centennial Speaker Series panel moderated by Lucille Stott, author of CA’s Centennial book.

During Concord Academy’s Centennial Celebration, one of several Centennial Speaker Series conversations, “Designing for Resilience and Sustainability: The Future is Up to Us,” took place under the tent. A discussion between environmental leaders Tony Patt ’83, Lisa Dreier ’85, and Sonia Lo ’84 addressed the climate crisis and envisioned more sustainable human systems.

Apocalypse Whatever: Students Confront Crisis in Department X Course

This spring history teacher Topi Dasgupta P’22 ’25 and English teacher Laurence Vanleynseele P’22 co-taught the experimental class Apocalypse, Whatever: Caring in the Age of Post-Truth. Created with support from CA’s endowed Department X initiative, the course helped students turn toward existential crises without the distance of cynicism or the disembodiment of doomscrolling.
