The Performing Arts Department will be kicking off the new decade with its mainstage production of Indecent by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Paula Vogel! There will be two performances — on Friday, February 21, and Saturday, February 22, each at 7:30 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $15 and can be reserved by emailing Jessica Cloutier-Plasse (jessica_cloutier-plasse@concordacademy.org).

The play is inspired by the true events surrounding the controversial 1923 Broadway debut of Sholem Asch’s God of Vengeance, a play seen by some as a seminal work of Jewish culture and by others as an act of traitorous libel. Indecent follows the history of the drama and the path of the artists who risked their careers and lives to perform it. The CA cast has already been working with a dialect coach, a folk-dance specialist, and a podcaster who researched her grandmother’s Holocaust experience. The podcast can be found at Rachael Cerrotti – We Share the Same Sky. Rachael Cerrotti will speak to the entire school at an assembly prior to the play’s debut.

Please consider supporting the receptions following performances on February 21 and 22 by signing up here.
