Congratulations, Class of 2024!

Commencement Speaker:
Alexandra Berzon ’97

Alexandra Berzon ’97 is an investigative reporter who has covered American politics and elections for The New York Times since 2022, after working for the investigative nonprofit organization ProPublica. Previously, for The Wall Street Journal, she wrote and contributed to several news stories that both won and were named finalists for the Pulitzer Prize for investigative reporting. Before that, her investigations for the Las Vegas Sun won the Pulitzer Prize for public service, among other awards. Her deeply reported stories have exposed politicians’ corruption, corporate wrongdoing that has compromised public safety, and lax government enforcement that has cost lives.

A Concord Academy graduate, Berzon earned a bachelor’s degree from Vassar College and a master’s degree in journalism from the University of California, Berkeley. She returned to campus last June for CA’s Centennial Celebration, where she participated in a panel about journalism and democracy.

Berzon has a unique perspective to offer as both a member of our community who is rooted in CA’s values and a standard-bearer of journalistic ethics who is committed to holding our institutions, officials, and electoral systems accountable to the public.
