CA Dance Project’s fall 2019 original production, Bewilderness, which the group performed twice on November 15, cast a spell on its audiences. Captivating, immersive, and visually stunning, the performance addressed the environmental crisis with urgency and beauty, to riveting live music in a score that included the voice of Swedish teen climate activist Greta Thunberg.

Established in 1976, the Joan Shaw Herman Award for Distinguished Service is presented annually to a member of the CA community — the school’s only award recognizes the work of CA graduates who have demonstrated dedication to service in either a professional or volunteer capacity.

We are proud to announce that Anne Pfitzer ’85 has been chosen by the selection committee for her contributions to international public health, in particular in the areas of family planning, maternal-newborn health and survival, and HIV/AIDS prevention.

“Origin Stories” Exhibition Showcases Creative Work by Alumnae/i and 30 Years of CA’s Photography Program

Origin Stories, an exhibition currently on display in the Concord Free Public Library, includes recent and retrospective work from 22 Concord Academy alumnae/i, all of whom were students in CA’s photography program and now work in creative professions. “With this show, I wanted to celebrate the idea that being an artist and going into the arts are viable and responsible things to do,” says Cynthia Katz, who has taught photography at Concord Academy for 33 years. On January 22 and 23, Concord Academy honored acclaimed chef Anita Lo ’84 as the 2020 Centennial Hall Fellow. At the Boston Public Market, Lo offered a cooking experience for fellow alumnae/i, and in her Hall Fellow Lecture at CA, she told her life story and discussed the importance of food to culture and in creating communities where people can belong as they are.
