Each year, alums contribute to the life of the school, both on campus and within the greater CA community. We are proud to share the contributions of our alum network in this 2025–26 Report of the Alum Association.
The Alum Association fosters lifelong connections between Concord Academy and its alum community. The Association facilitates meaningful opportunities to preserve and promote a love of learning, service to others, and a commitment to diverse perspectives and backgrounds. Through involvement in the life of the school, within the community, and through service to the greater world, the Association strives to renew and affirm the core values instilled while at CA.

At the Alum Association Assembly on Saturday, May 16, 2026, alums in attendance voted to revise the CA Alum Association bylaws. These by-laws are in place to provide structure and guidance for the Association. Please find the newly revised version here.

Leah is a member of the Class of 2017 who came to Concord Academy as a new sophomore boarding student and quickly found her home. What could have been an intimidating transition turned into one of the best decisions of her life. She found her people at CA, and those connections have stayed with her ever since.
After graduating, Leah went on to earn her dual degrees in Business and Psychology from the University of Rochester and now works as a Marketing Manager in New York City, where she specializes in strategy and loves nothing more than digging into data to figure out what’s working and why. It suits her perfectly, as CA instilled in her a genuine love of learning that she carries into everything she does, always looking for ways to grow and optimize.
As a CAYAC Co-Chair, Leah is excited to channel that same energy into building community by helping young alums feel connected, engaged, and reminded that their CA experience doesn’t end at graduation.

Originally from Needham, Mass, after graduating from Concord Academy, David moved to New York City for college and never left. He currently resides in Brooklyn with his wife, Bethany, and his 9-year-old son Benji.

Nitchaya lives and works in Hong Kong as a human rights lawyer, advocating for labour rights, especially for women and migrant workers across Southeast Asia. Hong Kong is her main base, but Bangkok is her forever home sweet home, where she heads back whenever she can.

Becca, originally from Newbury, MA, now lives in Manhattan where she is an editor at Food Network Magazine. She previously served as a CAYAC Co-Chair, and she is excited to jump into her new role as the New York Regional Co-Chair.

Betsy Green ’91, Chair
Established in 1976, the Joan Shaw Herman Award for Distinguished Service is presented annually to a member of the CA community. The school’s only award recognizes the work of CA graduates who have demonstrated dedication to service to others in either a professional or volunteer capacity.
CA honored Helen Chase Trainor ’67 as the 2026 Joan Shaw Herman Award recipient, recognizing her lifelong commitment to justice. A former federal public defender, she has led efforts to improve living conditions and health services for incarcerated individuals. In her assembly talk, she advocated for incremental, grassroots reform to tackle systemic inequality in the legal and mental health systems. Anchoring her approach in the southern African philosophy of ubuntu—the belief that our individual humanity is inextricably bound to the humanity of others—Trainor introduced a “DARE” framework (Dream your passion, Address what is yours to do, Respect the stories, and Embrace your power) to encourage students to break massive problems into manageable, humane actions. By sharing her own experiences as a federal public defender, advocate, and ordained deacon, she emphasizes that change is built from the ground up through active listening, shared suffering, organizing, and helping individuals tell their personal stories to shift public policy.

The CAYAC Committee meets regularly throughout the year to lead and support CA’s young alum community and keep them connected to each other and the school. This year, they assisted in planning regional gatherings in Boston and New York, where alums from the classes of 2011–2025 reconnected, reminisced, and engaged in a little friendly competition on the putting greens. They also fostered support of the 2025–26 Annual Fund, encouraging their fellow young alums to join them in championing the school’s mission and values. This year, the generosity of CA’s alum community was extraordinary. Together with parents, grandparents, parents of alums, Trustees, and friends, CA surpassed its $3.1 M Annual Fund goal.

Student representatives played a vital role this year by sharing their thoughtful and unique perspectives on campus life at CA with alum volunteers. Throughout the year, they met regularly to explore CA’s philanthropic efforts and learn about the wide-reaching impact of its volunteer network. Their involvement showed a deep curiosity about how philanthropy and engagement shape the CA experience—both now and for future generations—as they start to envision their paths as future alums.
This terrific group of student leaders provided campus updates at Alum Steering Committee meetings, served on the Joan Shaw Herman Award Selection Committee, introduced alum speakers at special events, and led nearly 30 student volunteers to inspire 230 community members to support the Annual Fund through the All Community Campaign. Throughout each experience, they saw firsthand how impactful it is to bridge the gap between current students and alums. We are incredibly grateful for their partnership and proud to watch them embody the spirit of philanthropy and engagement that will shape CA’s future.
Rayner Ramirez ’88 was added to the list of accomplished individuals who’ve been awarded the Elizabeth B. Hall Fellowship over the past 6 decades.
In December, Ramirez visited CA to speak about his career in network news and documentary production and his realization, as a CA student, that “ordinary people’s stories are amazing” and he wanted to be part of telling them. During his visit, Ramirez spoke with Head of School Henry D. Fairfax during an all school assembly about his own immigrant experience and how he approaches visual storytelling to uplift the perspectives of marginalized communities.
In May 2026, more than 250 alums from across generations returned to CA for a weekend of celebration, connection, and reflection. Attendees to part in a variety of offerings, including faculty-led classes, student-led campus tours, an incredible dance performance, an engaging student panel, and a sustainability focused conversation featuring insights from alums alongside current CA students and faculty.
The celebration was capped with a joyful reception and dinner Saturday evening, featuring live music and celebratory remarks.
