The CA Alum Association and its volunteer committees serve both the alum community and the school in their missions. Explore the opportunities to get involved at CA today— support your class as a class secretary or help to organize regional gatherings in your city! Every year we are engaging more and more alums in making sure that your connection to CA remains strong, whether you are local to Concord or live across the globe. We hope you’ll get involved, in any way you can!
Class secretaries are CA’s largest group of alum volunteers who work throughout the year to keep their classmates connected to one another and engaged with the school. They collect class notes, which are published annually in the summer edition of CA Magazine. Through their relationships with classmates, class secretaries play a critical role in helping CA to maintain a strong alum community.
Alums who serve on reunion committees lead their reunion efforts by encouraging classmate attendance, contributing to the planning, and asking for a special gift to the Annual Fund in honor of their milestone year. A successful reunion is reliant on reunion class leadership and the amazing work reunion committee volunteers do in reconnecting classmates to each other and the school.
The Community and Equity Committee of the CA Alum Association includes the school’s alums in conversations and initiatives around issues of diversity and equity at CA today. Their goal is to bring students, faculty, staff, and alums together to examine identity, build community, challenge inequity, and support social justice activism. The Alum C&E Committee provides support and opportunities to connect underrepresented groups within the student and alum community to each other.
The Joan Shaw Herman Award Selection Committee engages the school’s alums in the selection process of the only award presented in the CA community—given to a member of the CA community to honor a lifetime of service. Members of the committee participate in the annual selection process for the new recipient.
The Alum Annual Fund Committee supports the work of the Annual Fund team through peer-to-peer fundraising and building meaningful relationships within the CA community. Committee members communicate the philanthropic priorities of the school and the need for alum support to achieve ambitious and important goals.
The Concord Academy Young Alum Community (CAYAC) consists of alums who have graduated from CA within the last 15 years. The CAYAC Committee leads the young alum community by encouraging attendance at local and regional events, serving as college ambassadors, facilitating networking and engagement opportunities, and conducting Annual Fund outreach to classmates and friends. These volunteers are critical in helping CA keep young alums engaged through programs and Annual Fund participation.
The regional committees facilitate meaningful experiences for CA alums across the globe by organizing gatherings and activities in their area. Our regional volunteer leadership represents New England; New York; Washington, D.C.; and Asia.
