A Warm Welcome to CA's New Faculty and Staff in 2026–27

Araceli Arizpe
Senior Assistant Director of College Counseling
Araceli Arizpe joined the CA community in summer 2026 as the senior assistant director of college counseling. Prior to CA, she worked in the Office of Admissions at Middlebury College (her alma mater), and in college access at a community-based organization in the Boston area. She holds a bachelor’s degree in international and global studies and a master’s in human development and education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. She is eager to join the CCO and connect with students about their postsecondary aspirations. For Araceli, the best feeling in the world is helping students identify schools that fit their academic and personal needs! Outside of school, Araceli loves to knit, enjoy live music and theater, and explore local cafes.

Sam Bozoukov
English Faculty
Sam Bozoukov recently completed his Ph.D. in English literature at Harvard University on sound and listening in John Milton’s last poem, Samson Agonistes. At Harvard, he earned recognition from the Derek Bok Center for Teaching and Learning for his teaching in a course on the history of the essay. He also taught classes on Paradise Lost and Shakespearean playwriting, as well as his own designed seminar on the intersection of tragic drama and disability theory. Sam is thrilled to be teaching at the Concord Academy this fall. He is especially excited to be introducing 9th graders to important works in the literary canon and to be leading a class on artificial intelligence in literature.

Mike Caudill
Individual Music Instruction (IMI) Saxophone

Mike Caudill joined the Concord Academy music faculty teaching saxophone in 2026. With a background in various musical styles, Mike believes in learning the saxophone by studying its role in a range of music, from jazz and rock to classical and beyond. As a saxophonist, composer, and arranger, Mike maintains a busy schedule and is active in several projects performing across New England and New York. Mike leads his own trios and quartets as well as the jazz fusion collective City of Four and has recorded several albums of original music between these groups. Writing for ensembles of all sizes and configurations, his favorites including saxophone quartets and big bands, Mike’s compositions have received awards and are performed by groups across the United States and internationally.

Will Chavis
Director of Athletics, Recreation, and Wellness
Will Chavis brings a wealth of experience as an educator, coach, mentor, athlete, and leader, with a career spanning the middle school, high school, collegiate, international, and professional levels. Most recently, Will spent five seasons at Drexel University as an assistant coach, where he helped lead the school to its longest consecutive winning-season stretch. Before joining Drexel, Will built a highly successful coaching career at Bishop McDevitt High School in the Philadelphia Catholic League. Serving as both the head basketball coach and the program’s equipment and camp director, he guided the school to multiple record-breaking campaigns over four seasons.

For his efforts, Will was named the 2018 Philadelphia Catholic League Coach of the Year and the PIAA 3A Pennsylvania State Coach of the Year. He has also made a major impact on the AAU circuit as a head coach and director, helping numerous athletes advance, including to Division I and the NBA, across multiple sports.

Following a professional playing career that spanned more than a decade across Germany, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Cyprus, Iceland, Italy, and France, Will gained extensive coaching and administrative experience in Germany and China. He served as a head coach in Germany’s top youth basketball league (JBBL) and as the associate head coach and general manager of the Nürnberg Falcons in Germany’s Bundesliga. A former standout player himself, Will finished as one of Engineering and Science High School’s all-time leading scorers, and eventually had his jersey retired. As a senior, he earned First Team Philadelphia Daily News All-League honors. Will graduated from Texas Tech University in 2003, where he was the first recruit for legendary Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame coach Bob Knight.

Beyond his work as a coach, Will and his wife, Larisa, are the founders of the Make Em Believe Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering and inspiring youth through mentorship, education, sports, and community engagement initiatives. Will and Larisa have two children, Aiden and Maria, and a French Bulldog named Kobe.

Casey Coleman
Associate Head for Institutional Advancement
For nearly 15 years, Casey Coleman has worked in the field of development at Noble and Greenough School (Nobles) and Dexter Southfield School. Most recently, she served as the campaign director and a senior major gifts officer at Nobles, and she previously ran its annual giving efforts. Before Nobles, she worked for more than a decade in the corporate world in a variety of strategic marketing, sales, and business development roles. Her positions included director of marketing for CB Richard Ellis in Washington, D.C., and director of international marketing for Engel & Voelkers, a luxury real estate company, in Hamburg, Germany.

In addition, Casey was a marketing consultant for the Coca-Cola Company and was involved in fundraising on the 2000 Bill Bradley for President campaign. Immediately after college, she worked in New York City and San Francisco as an analyst for Goldman Sachs & Co.

Casey earned a B.A. in politics from Princeton University, where she was a member of the 1994 NCAA Women’s Lacrosse National Championship team and was also named to the All-Ivy and USWLA Academic All-American women’s lacrosse teams. She has an MBA from the McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University.

Today, Casey is an avid marathon runner, having completed more than 10 marathons, most recently the Milan Marathon in April 2026. She coaches youth basketball, is an alumni interviewer for Princeton University, and is a member of the Friends Alumni Network Advisory Board at Sidwell Friends School, her alma mater. A certified life coach, Casey also works with student-athletes and girls who are experiencing obstacles and/or times of transition to bridge the gap between where they are and where they want to go.

Casey lives in Chestnut Hill, Mass., with her two children and her golden retriever, Cooper.

Erin Davey
Assistant Director of Athletics
Erin joined the CA faculty in summer 2026 as the associate director of athletics. In this role, she partners with the Athletic Department to support CA’s interscholastic teams and afternoon programs, helping foster a positive and engaging experience for all students. Outside of CA, Erin enjoys spending time with her almost-5-year-old daughter, Tatum, and her 16-year-old dog, Bama. She can often be found running, biking, or searching for the best cup of coffee in town. Erin holds degrees in sports management and sociology.

Emily Giddings
Director of Curriculum and Pedagogy

Emily Giddings has loved school since Mrs. Starnes’ 2nd grade class, and she is grateful to now work alongside passionate educators and engaged students at Concord Academy. She joined the CA community as the director of curriculum and pedagogy in 2026 with 15 years of experience as a history teacher and academic leader in both public and independent schools. Emily hopes to help make school a place where every student can grow through joyful exploration and develop confidence in their identities as learners. A proud Delawarean and New England transplant, Emily lived in Boston; Philadelphia; Washington, D.C.; and Cambridge, Mass. before settling down with her family in Littleton, Mass. Outside of school, she loves to read (learn), travel (explore), and cook (eat)!

MacKenzie Patterson
English Faculty
MacKenzie Patterson joined the CA community in fall 2026 as part of the 10th grade English team. She also teaches electives, including Race, Labor and the Literary Imagination and Strange Gardens: Unruly Vegetation in Ecoliterature. She earned her B.A. from Swarthmore College and her Ph.D. from Boston University, where her research examined the intersection of science fiction, racial formation, and reproductive technologies in the Americas. At BU, she also enjoyed teaching courses on speculative fiction and writing. In her spare time, you will most likely find her crafting, playing tabletop games, or reading scary stories to her cat.

Ed Rafferty P ’19 P’21
History Teacher
Ed Rafferty first arrived at CA as a house parent in 2005 and became a member of the History Department in 2012. He briefly left for two years and returned in the 2026–27 school year. Ed has served as a house parent or affiliate in Phelps, Admadjaja, and Haines, as an administrator on duty (AOD), and as a coach for basketball, softball, and P.E. classes. He earned his Ph.D. in history at Brown University and currently lives with his family (Marie, Cecilia ’19, Edward ’21, and Emma ’21) in Pawtucket, R.I. In his spare time, he enjoys writing nonfiction and creative nonfiction, playing guitar, and gardening.

Gen Yoshimura
Individual Music Instruction (IMI) Percussion

Gen Yoshimura is a Japanese drummer, composer, and educator based in Boston. After moving to the United States to study at Berklee College of Music (B.M.) and Longy School of Music of Bard College (M.M.), he established himself as a versatile performer fluent in jazz, Latin music, fusion, and pop. Throughout his career, he has performed with numerous internationally acclaimed artists, including Fernando Huergo, Walter Smith, Kris Davis, Oscar Stagnaro, Bruno Raberg, and many others. A career highlight came when his performance on Fernando Huergo’s big band album The Possibility of Change was featured alongside recordings by Pat Metheny, Fred Hersch, and Bobby Watson in Jazz Artistry Now’s Best of Jazz 2020. As an educator, Gen serves on the faculty of New England Conservatory’s Preparatory and Continuing Education programs, teaching ensembles and private lessons. He has also presented clinics and masterclasses for Berklee College of Music, including its Summer Drum/Percussion Workshop.
