Congratulations to Concord Academy’s fall teams on another successful season.

Go Green!

Cross-Country

After a strong overall performance in the regular season races, the stage was set for the boys and girls cross-country teams to perform well at Eastern Independent League (EIL) championships held on CA’s home course at Great Brook State Park in Carlisle, Mass. Running first, the girls team placed eighth in a very strong field, with all CA runners improving significantly from their earlier efforts on the same course. They were followed by the boys team, which faced one of the most competitive fields in years, with five schools capable of winning the title. Trailing at almost every point in the race, CA’s boys team finally edged ahead, earning the EIL championship by a mere two points. In the final meet of the season, CA cross-country athletes finished strong with 11 personal bests at the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) Division III Championships, held at Highland Park in Attleboro, Mass. CA’s girls varsity and boys varsity finished 16th and seventh respectively, while the boys JV took the top two places and won the junior varsity team title.

Girls Varsity Soccer

The girls varsity soccer team enjoyed a breakthrough season by posting a third consecutive winning record and securing the program’s first-ever NEPSAC tournament berth! CA earned the No. 7 seed on the strength of its 10–5–1 regular-season record and showed no nerves as a new entry to the prestigious tournament by nearly upsetting the No. 2 seed, Kimball Union Academy, in a 2–1 loss. With a solid core of returning players, CA girls soccer has set its sights on more post-season tournament berths in the future.

Boys Varsity Soccer

The boys varsity soccer program continued its winning ways and NEPSAC tournament berth streak! The 2023 squad finished the regular season with an undefeated league record, a program first, but fell just short of an EIL title due to several league games ending in a tie. In an impressive run of excellence, the program earned its eighth consecutive NEPSAC tournament bid and battled the No. 3 seed, Millbrook School in the quarterfinals. While CA was unable to pull off the upset, it was yet another strong year for the program overall.

Girls Varsity Field Hockey

Like the girls varsity soccer program, the varsity field hockey program also posted a third consecutive winning season! The team came out of the gate strong by winning five of its first seven games but fell just short of both EIL and NEPSAC tournament berths. Despite the near misses at tournament time, CA field hockey has clearly established itself as a program to contend with in the future.

Girls Varsity Volleyball

The girls varsity volleyball team had a very young roster and experienced a rebuilding year in the always rigorous EIL. The clear highlight was a late-season victory over EIL tournament-bound Bancroft School at home. The team gained lots of experience this season, so look for CA volleyball to have a much stronger campaign in 2024.

Junior Varsity Programs

The future appears bright for our fall varsity programs as CA’s four sub-varsity teams—boys junior varsity (JV) soccer, boys thirds soccer, girls JV soccer, and girls JV volleyball—combined for over 20 wins throughout the season.

It was another successful fall athletic season by many measures, but most importantly, the athletes had the opportunity to grow as players and teammates and represented CA with pride.
