Pieter performed with renowned R & B band Big Dave and The Ultrasonics from 1993 to 1999, and was featured at the Montreal Jazz Festival, at the Playboy Jazz Festival, and on the Canadian Much Music Channel. Pieter has performed with Jackie Evancho, Yo Yo Ma, Cindy Blackman-Santana, Charles Neville, Grammy winner Patti Austin, Kim Wilson of The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Grammy-winning vocal group Roomful of Teeth, Meow Meow, Grammy winner Andrea Bocelli, Mannheim Steamroller, R & B legend Rufus Thomas, American Idol finalists Melinda Doolittle and Ayla Brown, and Grammy winner Anne Murray. He has recorded with Mary Witt, Big Dave and The Ultrasonics, and Wil D’Arcangelo and for national campaigns for Volkswagen, The United Way, and other commercial jingles. He is a regular performer with the Claflin Hill Symphony Orchestra, and he is a current member of the Arch Street Band in residence at St. Anthony Shrine in Boston. Pieter is on the faculty at Worcester Polytechnic Institute and Concord Academy. He is a graduate of the University of Michigan, and has also been featured in Worcester Magazine, Percussive Notes, Who’s Who in America, and Modern Drummer. Since 1997, Pieter has been an endorser and clinician for Sabian cymbals.
