Nancy Boutilier
English Teacher, Girls JV Basketball Coach
With her youth spent playing sports and admiring the power of the pen, Nancy Boutilier made a happy transition from collegiate student-athlete to high school teacher-coach in 1984. She taught rhetoric and composition, creative writing, and a variety of literature courses at high schools, recreation centers, community college, a state prison, and, most recently, at Oberlin College, before arriving at Concord Academy in 2016.
At CA, Nancy teaches 10th grade English as well as electives in poetry, creative nonfiction, LGBTQ+ literature, and eco-literature. She is active around campus, coaching the girls JV basketball team, supporting LGBTQ+ student groups, coordinating the Writing Center, and writing poetry with anyone who will join her! Lately, she’s been dreaming up a course on the literature of basketball. Nancy serves as a house faculty member in Wheeler House, where she lives with her partner, Christa Champion, and their dog, Kovick.
