Max Bean joined the Concord Academy Mathematics Department in 2025. He taught math and physics previously at St. Ann’s School in Brooklyn, N.Y.; Democracy Prep Charter School and John Jay College, in Manhattan; and GEMS World Academy in Chicago. He lives in Cambridge (newly arrived from Hyde Park, Chicago), with his wife, Tanya, who teaches film studies at Boston College, and their 2-year-old daughter, Rhea. Besides teaching, Max loves reading and writing, drawing and painting (though he rarely finds the time), the history of ideas, religion, community, and nature.
