John’s vocation is using finance, data, evidence-based practices, and the law to drive outcomes, create greater equity, and enhance accountability in the public and social sectors. He has co-built a 45-person national nonprofit consulting firm helping government achieve better outcomes for those most in need, led the Massachusetts agencies responsible for forensic science and public safety technology, and worked as a prosecutor, launching the country’s first statewide computer crime division and investigating a fatal accident in the country’s largest infrastructure project. He currently serves as a senior fellow to Third Sector Capital Partners and as a senior advisor to the Roca Impact Institute. He holds an MBA degree from MIT, a JD degree from Boston University, and a BA degree from Penn. He lives in Newton, Mass., with his wife, Kate Olmsted, a literacy specialist in a Boston public charter school, and their three children, Charlotte ’19, Eliza ’17, and Xander ’26. In college, he worked summers at a dude ranch for kids in Arizona’s high desert. At CA, he chairs the Board’s Community and Equity Committee.
