Our Campus

Concord Academy sits on 39 acres in Concord, Mass., a small New England town that has played a big role in American and world history.

Our boarding houses line Main Street, and students have easy access to the commuter rail to Boston—about 40 minutes away—and immediate access to the shops, restaurants, and history of one of the country’s most charming towns.

Place-Based Learning

What better place to study than in the birthplace of both the American Revolution and transcendentalist literature? CA faculty members partner with the Concord Museum and the public library to work with artifacts and archives, and English classes study Thoreau, Alcott, Emerson, and Hawthorne in the places where these seminal authors built community and created texts that continue to inspire us.

A Home for the Arts

Student paintings and sculptures line the hallways of the Math and Arts Center (MAC), where Concord Academy’s visual art studios—for ceramics, painting, fiber arts, filmmaking, photography, and more—get a lot of use.

The Centennial Arts Center, under construction, will be completed in spring 2025 and in support of the performing arts and community and bonus academic spaces. The following is an overview of what it will offer:

The Chapel

At the center of the Concord Academy campus is the Elizabeth B. Hall Chapel. It’s a secular building beloved in our community: our house of stories. This is where we begin most days listening to a senior student deliver a chapel talk. These chapel talks often include songs or performances. Speakers share stories, gratitude, and advice.

True to CA’s culture of common trust, adults don’t vet students’ chapel talks. We trust our seniors to express themselves with authenticity and maturity gained from their three-plus years of deep listening. The Chapel’s history reflects the balance of independence and community that CA cultivates.

City Access

Concord Academy is located 18 miles from downtown Boston. The school is easily accessible by train, Uber, and car. Students attend concerts, go to Red Sox games at storied Fenway Park, and enjoy shopping on Newbury Street and dining at myriad restaurants in one of the most vibrant cities on the East Coast. What do you find at CA? A small, special town and access to a cosmopolitan area that is home to some of the best universities in the world.
