Fun Fact

Chris's first job out of college was working as a bicycle messenger in New York City. His second job was cutting lumber at a mill in northern Vermont, building large-scale sculptures in an unheated studio from wood he scavenged from his job. After a stint in graduate school earning an MFA degree in sculpture and drawing, he landed his position at CA.

Chris joined Concord Academy in 1985 as a drawing and sculptor instructor. Over the years, he has also taught a wide range of courses in filmmaking and English while serving in the residential community as a house faculty member. Chris moved to Los Angeles in 1999 to serve as project development director for Samuel Goldwyn Films, returning to CA in 2004 to teach English and history before transiting back into the art studio where he taught sculpture and drawing classes until 2021. He currently resides in Cambridge, Mass., where he maintains a studio practice in sculpture when he is not teaching architecture or art history at CA.
