Registration Dates and Times

New Student Registration: Friday, August 27

  • 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.: Boarding students
  • 1:00–1:45 p.m.: Day students

Returning Student Registration: Monday, August 30

  • 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.: Boarding students trying out for fall athletics
  • 12:00–1:00 p.m.: Day students trying out for fall athletics
  • 2:00–3:00 p.m.: Students not trying out for fall athletics

Student Registration Details

Registration for new students takes place on Friday, August 27, and registration for returning students takes place on Monday, August 30.

Please note that registration includes taking your new student ID photo/directory photo as well as a voice recording of how you would like your name pronounced. 

New students begin their CA experience with registration and orientation on Friday, August 27, which opens at 11:00 a.m. for boarders and 1:00 p.m. for day students. When you arrive on campus, please park along Main Street or in the West Gate parking lot before coming to the Student Health and Athletic Center (SHAC) to register. 

Please plan to bring the following items with you to campus on Friday, August 27:

  • Computer and phone (you will work with our tech team to connect your devices during opening days) 
  • Comfortable clothing and shoes
  • Water bottle

Following registration, students and families will attend a welcome session in the Elizabeth B. Hall Chapel at 2:00 p.m. After a brief introduction, all new students will join their orientation team to get them acclimated to life at CA, while parents will stay for additional conversations with members of the school leadership team, returning CA parents, and their child’s advisor. 

All CA families say their goodbyes, and parents depart campus between 4:15 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Orientation programming will continue for all students. Day students will need to be picked up at 8:00 p.m., and boarding students will return to their houses for continued programming. Saturday orientation programming will run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., at which time day students will depart campus.

Friday, August 27 – 30: Orientation

Orientation for new students begins after registration on Friday, August 27, and continues over the weekend, concluding at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 29, for day students, and on Monday, August 30, for boarding students.

During Orientation, new CA families will have an opportunity to do the following:

  • Hear from CA’s interim head of school and student head of school
  • Tour the campus
  • Meet their student’s advisor
  • Attend a parent resources fair
  • Learn from school administrators how to navigate the student and academic program

First Days of School

Tuesday, August 31: Convocation
Convocation begins at 8:45 a.m. (note the special start time). This is also our first day of classes.

Friday, September 3: Class Day
Our annual Class Day will take place on the first Friday of the school year. We are developing class specific programming. The day will begin with chapel at 8:30, after which each class will participate in programming designed to support grade-level initiatives. 

Monday, September 6: Labor Day
School will be in session.

Parent Social for Parents of all Classes

Sunday, August 29, 4:00–6:00 p.m.

New families, returning families—join us as we kick off the year with an informal all parent social! This will be a chance to connect with fellow parents and build community. Light refreshments will be served.

CA Parents 101: Campus Tour and Meet & Greet for New Parents and Parents of the Class of 2024

Join us for a parent-led event that will include a campus tour, remarks from CA Parent President Lori Hick P’19 ’22 about getting involved and engaging with the school as a parent, and a chance to ask questions to a group of parent volunteers in the Ransome Room in the Math and Arts Center (MAC).
