Congratulations to Cinematographer and CA Alumna Rachel Morrison '96

Director of photography Rachel Morrison ’96 made history this year as the first female cinematographer to be nominated for an Academy Award, for the visuals for Mudbound, a portrait of two families in the Deep South and their struggle for survival in the years after World War II.

Morrison was also responsible for the camerawork for Black Panther, the much-anticipated Marvel Comics superhero film from director Ryan Coogler that broke opening-weekend box office records, proving a smash hit early in the 2018 film season, and broke ground as a celebration of black culture.
