Congratulations to Concord Academy’s fall sports teams! With strong finishes to the regular season and several teams advancing to the postseason, CA athletics enjoyed another successful fall.

The boys varsity cross-country team enjoyed an extraordinary season! The team carried an undefeated regular season record into the postseason needing a win in the EIL and NEPSAC finals to finish a perfect record. And that they did! The team hoisted the EIL championship trophy after defending their home course at Great Brook State Park on November 2. The next week they traveled to the Canterbury School in Connecticut to compete in the NEPSAC finals and met their goal with a first-place finish in a field of 24 of the region’s strongest teams. This is the boys cross-country team’s first NEPSAC championship and the fifth in school history, following on the heels of the girls varsity squash NEPSAC championship in winter 2017.

The CA girls varsity cross-country team also enjoyed a solid season. The team finished tied for fifth in the EIL championship meet despite wet and muddy conditions. Due to injuries, the team was represented by only five runners at the NEPSAC finals in Connecticut but persevered with an impressive ninth place finish among 22 teams. The boys JV team also enjoyed a great showing at NEPSACs, with a third-place finish!

The boys varsity soccer team enjoyed another successful season this fall. The team captured second place in the EIL and secured their fourth consecutive NEPSAC tournament bid. Quite an impressive feat! CA is the No. 3 seed and will host St. Luke’s, the No. 6 seed, on November 14 in the NEPSAC quarterfinals at 2 p.m. at the Moriarty Athletic Complex. With a win, the team will move on to an all EIL showdown in the semifinals at either No. 2 seed, Pingree, or hosting the No. 7 seed, Beaver Country Day on November 17. The NEPSAC finals will be played at Middlesex at 1 p.m. on November 18. Good luck to boys varsity soccer! The boys JV team also enjoyed much success this fall posting an unblemished record!

The girls varsity volleyball team, though young with only two seniors on the squad this year, enjoyed yet another winning season. On the strength of their EIL record, the team earned the No. 3 seed in the EIL tournament and traveled to No. 2 seed, Newton, where they fell to a stronger and more experienced foe. The girls JV volleyball team also enjoyed much success this fall, posting another winning season. The future is clearly bright for the CA volleyball program!

The girls varsity soccer and girls varsity field hockey programs both were much improved this year. The field hockey team, though very young, fell just shy of a .500 record after a tough 2017 campaign. The varsity soccer team battled until the last game of the season for a bid to the EIL tournament and fell just short. The girls JV soccer program had their challenges but came up with a huge tie with arch-rival Pingree, which played a vital role in CA winning the Chandler Bowl for the third consecutive year. All in all, both programs saw much progress!

It was another great fall athletic season by all measures, but most importantly, players enjoyed the opportunity to pursue excellence while learning important life skills and values to carry with them off the field and court.
