Reunion Weekend 2019: Concord Academy Alumnae/i Reflect and Reconnect

June 12, 2019

From June 7 through June 9, CA welcomed more than 200 alumnae/i and former faculty back to campus. Idyllic spring weather set the tone for a Concord Academy reunion weekend with strong turnout and great energy. With attendees returning from 14 different classes — from the class of 1949 celebrating its 70th reunion to the class of 2014, its fifth — the weekend gave former classmates many opportunities to catch up, reminisce, and explore today’s campus and the town of Concord. Alumnae/i from across the generations had a chance to mingle and learn how others remain involved in the life of the school, and to make new connections with fellow alumnae/i who have carried CA’s values out into the world.

March 20, 2019

The Concord Academy Alumnae/i Association invites all of you to this year’s Alumnae/i Association Assembly on Friday, June 7, 2019. An evolution of the annual meeting, the assembly is a chance to bring all alumnae/i together to hear important updates from school leadership and to be part of the conversation as we approach CA’s Centennial in 2022. During this time, the Joan Shaw Herman Award will be presented to the 2019 recipient and the alumnae/i community will also vote on the Alumnae/i Association officers for terms commencing in the fall of 2019. Following the assembly, everyone is invited to catch up with former faculty and friends across generations at the Alumnae/i Welcome Celebration as we kick off Reunion weekend!

Below is the preliminary schedule of the afternoon:

3:00 & 4:00 p.m. — Campus Tour + Highlights
4:00 p.m. — Alumnae/i of Color Reception
5:00-6:30 p.m. — Annual Alumnae/i Association Assembly

The assembly festivities will take place on-campus. For those who cannot make it back to CA, the assembly will be live-streamed (the link will be available closer to the date). You can expect to see an invitation in your mailbox in April! Whether you were last on campus for reunion, or haven’t been back since graduating, we hope you will make plans to return to Concord this June.

In a Guest Artist Residency, Lily Kind ’04 Brings Her Love of Vernacular and Experimental Dance Back to CA

February 19, 2019

The love Lily Kind ’04 has for vernacular and vaudevillian dance traditions and her abiding interest in taking risks were evident in her teaching approach during her two-week visit to CA in January. Kind is one in a series of professional dance artists — including Alexander Brady and Rika Okamoto from Twyla Tharp Dance — who have come to campus this year to work with and choreograph for the CA Dance Project and guest-teach dance classes. The Dance Company (now Dance Project), which she took part in all four of her years as a CA student, anchored her experience. “It’s where I learned how to be an artist,” she says.”
