CA’s New Choral Director Tai Oney is a World-Class Musician Who’s Serious about Teaching

A charismatic opera singer and Boston University graduate student, Tai Oney became CA’s choral director in September 2018. It’s a role that represents a change for the award-winning countertenor, who has performed around the world and spent much of the last decade based in London. But it’s a role that allows him to combine his own artistic pursuits with his desire to give to others what a dynamic teacher once provided him.

CA Singers Herald History at the Opening of the Concord Museum’s Rasmussen Education Center

On November 2, the CA Singers proudly represent Concord Academy and the school’s ties to the Concord Museum by performing at the grand opening of the museum’s new Anna and Neil Rasmussen Education Cente

The Laramie Project on November 2 and 3

Join us for this year’s fall mainstage production, The Laramie Project. There will be two performances — on Friday, November 2, and Saturday, November 3, each at 7:30 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center. CA Dance Project’s Fall Performance, Colour Theory, on November 9 and 10

Join us for the CA Dance Project’s fall performance, Colour Theory. There will be three shows — on Friday, November 9, at 7 and 8:30 p.m., and again on Saturday, November 10, at 2 p.m. All performances will be in the dance studio. On Following Your Passion: A 2018 Reunion CA Alumnae/i Panel

A panel discussion among CA alumnae/i with careers in the arts gave the Concord Academy community a chance to celebrate the creative work of its graduates during the 2018 reunion. Ben Stumpf ’88, who teaches computer science, film, and graphic design at CA, moderated the June 9 conversation with opera singer Colin Levin ’03, theater director Grady Gund ’08, architect Becky Seamans Egea ’93, and Meg Grasselli ’68, curator of old master drawings at the National Gallery in Washington.

CA Student Filmmakers Win Awards

Congratulations to three Concord Academy students — DJ Charles ’20, Hank Parker ’20, and Quinn Meyerson ’20 — whose short films won awards this month in New England student film competitions! DJ’s 30-second public service announcement took first prize in the League of Women Voters of Massachusetts “Get In the Game and Vote!” high school video contest, part of a statewide voter engagement initiative. His short film For Sale won best picture at this year’s Williston Northampton School Film Festival, which also honored Hank and Quinn’s short film, The Book, which they created this fall in Justin Bull’s Introduction to Film Production course, for best editing. Spring Co-Lab, Membra, a Moving Performance

The Concord Academy Performing Arts Department presented Membra, a beautiful piece of music theater, in the dance studio on May 4 and 5. The cantata for singers and dancers, with the music of Dietrich Buxtehude, a Baroque Dutch-German organist and composer, was a collaboration between CA Singers and Dance Company. Membra was directed by dance teacher Richard Colton, with music direction by choral director Michael Bennett.

Spring Film Assembly, May 23

Parents are welcome to attend the all-community assembly on Wednesday, May 23, at 2:25 p.m. in the P.A.C. to view some of the works made during the spring semester by CA filmmakers.
