Orientation & Athletic Practices

Orientation & Athletic Practices

(Last updated July 24th)

Orientation will have on-campus and remote elements. To mitigate the risks of the virus’s spread, orientation elements that are on campus will take place outside. Likewise, athletic practices and other on-campus after-school activities will begin in STAC 1 and take place outside, on a schedule to be determined with the support of the Athletics and Performing Arts departments. In addition, students will arrive in their athletic attire and leave campus at the end of practice. For students learning remotely, we also will offer athletic and other co-curricular activities specially developed for them.

Athletics in the fall will proceed in accordance with Massachusetts phase guidelines and National Federation of State High School Associations, and in consultation with our partners in the Eastern Independent League (EIL).

The EIL has approved the following policy statement:

There will be no official EIL schedule or championships for fall 2020. Individual institutions do, however, have the discretion to organize practices and to consider alternate competitions, dependent on state and local health guidelines.

Conditions in Massachusetts in the fall and the risk level of each sport will determine whether teams will focus on distanced conditioning and workouts on campus, or limited intra-team drills and scrimmages.
