It wasn’t until 30 years after its founding in 1922 that Concord Academy received a gift to start an endowment: an anonymous donor gave the school $50,000 in 1954 to allow for the completion of the Middle School building as well as to start an endowment for the school. Today, the draw from the endowment provides an essential 12% of the school’s operating budget each year; fundraising for new capital projects now also includes the funds necessary to maintain any addition to the school’s plant and increases to the school’s endowment also ensure access for increasing numbers of qualified students in perpetuity.
