Concord Academy, an independent college preparatory school for grades 9 through 12 located in Concord, Massachusetts, seeks to fill a quarter-time opening for a math and physics tutor in its Academic Support Center beginning in the fall of 2019. Founded in 1922, Concord Academy is a renowned independent high school for individuals who go on to make their mark on the world. In a caring and challenging atmosphere, students thrive in partnership with talented educators, encouraged to find their voices and discover and develop talents as scholars, artists, musicians, and athletes. With just shy of 400 boarding and day students, the CA community is vibrant, close-knit, and enlivened by a rigorous curriculum with wide-as-you-can-dream opportunities. This is a place where students love to learn, where creativity and trust are abundant natural resources, and where the history and literature of New England enrich us every day.

The school seeks to appoint an experienced tutor in support of a strong and well-established Academic Support Center. The Academic Support Center (ASC) seeks to help students develop habits of mind and work that will support them in pursuit of their academic goals at Concord Academy. The successful candidate will have the capacity and interest to tutor math subjects ranging from algebra through multivariable calculus and advanced topics, as well as physics at the introductory and advanced levels. In addition to demonstrating an enthusiasm for working with adolescents on skill development, candidates should value and seek out opportunities to collaborate and partner with colleagues in support of students. The tutor will work as part of the Academic Support Center team, participating in departmental work on study skill building, adolescent learning, and pedagogical innovation. Applicants should have significant coursework in a relevant subject.

We actively seek applicants who reflect and support our mission-driven commitment to creating and maintaining a diverse and inclusive school community. Salary is commensurate with experience, and additional opportunities such as SAT tutoring may be available.
