Despite an excellent effort which created close contests throughout the night, CA’s 4 basketball teams and the wrestling squad came up just short of winning the coveted Red Drum trophy at the annual Battle of Lexington & Concord. Needing to win at least 3 of the 5 contests, CA posted 2 victories on the night and succumbed in 3 contests by slim margins.

CA came roaring out of the gate as the GJV Basketball earned a point toward the overall tally of the event with a commanding 31-11 victory in the first contest of the evening. Despite valiant efforts in very close contests, BJV basketball and the wrestling team were not able to follow suit.

With the overall tally at 1-2 against, the GV basketball team took to the floor looking to keep CA’s hopes alive. The team chipped away at a double digit lead throughout the game. An impressive run in the final 2 minutes created a chance to knot the score at the buzzer. LCA turned away the late attempt and took the game 55-50 despite the impressive late rally and roars of a large CA fan base.

With the Red Drum trophy out of reach, the BV Basketball team took looked to close out the night with a win for the Green and avenge a lopsided loss at the event last year. The team more than reached their goal by winning in dominant fashion with a total team effort, 68-41.

Thanks to the many fans that came out to inspire a great overall showing by our teams. Go Green!
