Meet the Head of School

Jake Dresden assumed the position of Head of School at Concord Academy in July 2000. Having completed a highly successful nine-year tenure as the Head of the Collegiate School in New York City, Jake brings to Concord Academy a passion for learning and teaching, years of experience as a respected school leader, and a national perspective on independent school education. Born in the Netherlands and educated at the Westtown School in Pennsylvania, he holds a B.A. in Political Science and an M.A. in International Politics, both from the University of Pennsylvania.

Prior to his appointment at Collegiate, Jake spent many years in both teaching and administrative posts at William Penn Charter School and Abington Friends School, both Friends schools in Pennsylvania. He was particularly active in the recruitment and retention of a diverse body of both faculty and students at Collegiate, as well as establishing a teacher-training program for faculty of color. He has served on numerous educational and community boards in New York City and has taught at Columbia's Klingenstein Center for Independent Education in the Private School Leadership Program.
